Homeopathy and muscle testing for children

As moms, we’re always looking for safe, drug-free ways to keep our kids comfortable when they’re sick. For our family, homeopathic remedies have been an effective answer. When i began to study single homeopathic remedies, i was amazed at the number of factors that are taken into account when deciding which remedy to choose. Even though babies communicate in their own way, it’s really hard to know exactly what they’re feeling. You know they have a fever, but do they have an earache, sore throat, or abdominal pain because of it?

I decided to ask the practitioner who introduced me to homeopathy. She taught me muscle testing or applied kinesiology to my kids. Studies have shown that this method is 98% accurate. Testing in this way shows people’s “tolerance” to a substance. If the muscle is weak, there is no tolerance, so the appropriate treatment will not be. If the muscles are strong, it is as if your body is saying yes, it is good for me and it makes me strong. Because the mother and the baby are so firmly attached, the mother’s muscles will respond when the baby is tested. It takes practice but once you get it, it saves a lot of time and takes a lot of the guess work out to figure out which treatment works best for the child.

This is a good way to practice and learn about what is strong and weak in your body. One of the easiest muscles to test is your arm strength. You will need another person to help you. Place one arm straight in front of you and ask your body how it would respond if something was working for you. You can just say something like, “Strength is yeah” and notice how strong your arm feels when you’re fighting off someone trying to push it down. Then say “weak no,” and then see if you’re able to resist as someone pushes her down. Now you know what it feels like to be weak and strong.

Try it now with actual material. Hold a pound of refined white sugar or flour in one hand and see how your muscles respond. Try it now with a carrot or an apple, notice the difference. Just keep trying different things and noticing what other feelings are coming into your body. You may immediately feel the energy entering or leaving your body. This is a great way to become more aware of the way your body is speaking to you. You can use this technique for vitamins, foods, and remedies. Your body will also respond to positive or negative thoughts. Once you have practiced and become more confident in your body’s response, you can use the same technique while holding your baby. The only added thing when doing the test for a child is that you must have the intention of doing the test for your child, not yourself. So you can try thinking or saying something like, “Is this good for the baby” before testing your muscle strength.

Below is a simplified list of the remedies I always have on hand. You can buy yourself a home kit and build it from there. There are many different Materia Medica books to choose from that break down each treatment into symptoms a person may feel.

Constipation – Nux Vomica
Fever and infections – Belladonna
Teething and irritability – Chamomile
Earache and infections – Pulsatilla
Vomiting – Ipecacuanha, arsenic album (especially good for food poisoning)
Bumps and Bruises – Arnica. Arnica ointment is great for external use.
Diarrhea – podophyllum

Since there are many different symptoms of a cold, there are also many different treatments for these symptoms and this is where muscle testing comes in. It will help you determine what is best for the child. One of the signs that you have noticed that you have the right treatment is that your baby will drift off into a calm, peaceful sleep and his mood will change. It’s as if it got rid of the symptoms and provided a little support for their body to fight the symptoms. My practice recommended giving one dose, then 15 minutes later another dose and 15 minutes later another dose. This seems to get the cure into the body more quickly and is usually enough for the day. For more information, consult a homeopath.
